i loved the show, but in my opinion it ran too long and the humour wore off

Captain Keene: [news of the native revolt arrives] What do you intend to do, sir?
Sir Sidney Ruff-Diamond: Do? Do? We're British. We won't do anything...
Major Shorthouse: …until it's too late.
Sir Sidney Ruff-Diamond: Exactly. That's the first sensible thing you've said all day.

Yeah, I agree with the general view, too.

Still, it went on full-steam for some 10 years, brilliant writing and brilliant acting, sitcoms can't keep going on forever AND remain that good... unfortunately.

However, there could have been a better way to end OFAH than turning it utterly soppy, at the expense of humour, for another 10 years or so... Good Grief, I couldn't stand even Rodney anymore at some point, crying all the time like a... a... plonker, that's what... Cheesy

I actually enjoyed the early "Green Green Grass", rather disappointing as it was, better than the late OFAH episodes...

After all, you can't help loving to hate Boycie, can you? Grin

Marvellous supporting character, as well as Trigger, I'll never forget, when Del Boy's baby is born, Trigger in the pub...

"They named the baby Rodney... after Dave..."

I was literally on the floor, laughing my head off... Grin

I quite liked the ones with Raquel and Cassandra in them and i much preferred Uncle Albert to Grandad.

Many people say the last 3 xmas ones werent as good.  I agree they weren't as good as the previous years, but since then I have watched them again and as stand alone episodes I think they are pretty good.  The trouble is the previous trilogy had set the bar so high.

I preferred Uncle Albert to Grandad.  Buster Merryfield was a brilliant actor.

Del:  "If you say during the war one more time"

Albert:  "I wasn't going to say during the war..."

Del:  "That's alright then"

Albert:  "During the 1939 / 1945 conflict with germany..."

Classic.
