Been busy for a while and missed a few new things from the start, catching up just now, and I was seriously worried about this, after reading the absolutely dreadful reviews of the first episode.
After watching the first three, I'm glad to see you guys seem to have a more realistically balanced view of it, well, most of you

I'm in two minds, myself... well, honestly, this doesn't deserve the flat-out panning it got from "official" reviewers, but at the same time it isn't very good, is it?
David Jason's not the problem to me, I said that before, don't care how old he is, I always find his performances well above reproach, but even the best interpreter can't make a dull and uninspired plot exciting, and that seems to be the case here... still, I've seen MUCH worse, indeed.
What really puzzles me, though, is that David apparently vetoed the DVD publication of a couple of his old series, notable among which was "The Secret Life of Edgar Briggs", where he played an incredibly clumsy and bumbling MI5 agent, almost pure slapstick, VERY close to the character of Guy Hubble, but with better story-lines and supporting characters... and now he does THIS?
Well, I don't entirely dislike it, there's a few chuckles to be had, but I guess he really needed the money...
Since most reviewers coupled this with the also new BBC sketch-show "The One", in order to try and kill both at the same time, a quick comment on that as well...
Missed the first ep. (Lenny Henry), purposely avoided the second (Jasper Carrot), quite enjoyed the third and final one (Griff Rhys Jones).
Nostalgia factor? Well, yes, I'll admit to that, I miss programs like "Not the Nine O'Clock News" or "Smith & Jones", I just found it very refreshing seeing a middle-aged comedian doing comedy, for a change, rather than travel documentaries...
Oh, and, speaking of which, anyone seen John Cleese's "Alimony Tour"?
Well, at least he does state quite clearly that he needed the money...

Now on to catch up with Mrs. Brown's Boys and Shameless... ah, and, the new Hustle's on, too... getting a bit long in the tooth as well, I'm afraid, but I still enjoy it...
