Graham Linehan, the creator of Channel 4's BAFTA-winning The IT Crowd, announced last night that the sitcom will be back in 2011 for a fifth series.

Speaking at a preview screening of the next series - which is due arrive on our screens soon - the comedy writer confirmed that Channel 4 had given the go ahead for another series of the sitcom before filming had even wrapped on the forthcoming Series 4.

It's arrived, and it's still FUN! Grin

But I don't really know what's all this craze about "previews"...

It's just the bloody language of advertisement permeating everything, first there's the "preview", one week later the "regular showing"... well, to me that's just a first showing and a repeat, in the language of common sense...

But of course, the "previews" are supposed to be "elusive", dedicated to a quicker and smarter crowd than the bores who get by with "regular showings"... or that's what they'd like you to believe, which is a load of the old bovine brown stuff, really... all you need is an internet connection or a satellite dish, what's so smart about that? It only takes having a bit of money to waste (and as far as satellite is concerned, it IS quite a bit of a waste, if it wasn't for international football and the odd "rare" movie, I'd give it up...)

I first became aware of that last year, while discussing the latest episode of "Shameless" with a friend in London.

After some initial confusion, we realised she was one week behind me in her viewing, which she did on "regular" C4, while my "alternative" sources bore the E4 (first look) logo.

That's only on DT, I understand, and I guess ITV have something similar, dunno about the Beeb.

The current episode of "The IT Crowd", which will go "public" later this week, was instead made available on their web site, or so I understand (no logos at all on the video)

Watched it last night, it was pretty good. Not a classic I.T. Crowd episode but still good.
I wonder if Noel Fielding will guest again? He didn't appear in the last series.

"MAX? No, I work with Windows... hallo?" Cheesy

BTW, I just noticed the 1st assistant director here, it's Julie Sykes, Eric's daughter.

I knew she was in the business herself, but I never noticed the quite impressive list of credits she's put together, from "The Vicar of Dibley" through "Red Dwarf", "Goodnight Sweetheart", "Two Pints...", etc.

Blimey, you're probably right there... funny, and me being a Mac user myself for some 20 years... Cheesy

But that's probably the reason why I didn't get it, us "old hands" refer to the thing in the singular (the Operating System) rather than the plural (the machines) Smiley

Todays episode must have been one of their funniest yet.

On discovering a bomb disposal robot works on Vista "We are going to DIE!!!"

Yeah, but i was quite sad to see that his character has left the company. I liked the idea of him loitering in the server room.

I did think of registering goth2boss.com and redirecting it here but someone got to it first.

I missed him, too, but I guess catching scurvy would be a life-changing experience for most, possibly even more for Goths... Cheesy
