Well, at least this seems to be getting interesting... in the same way of the ancient Chinese curse, "May You Live in Interesting Times!" Cheesy

Not much to add about England, indeed, but what about the others?

Favourite Spain missed the first, very important cue, impressive Germany failed to impress rather miserably second time around, and France seem to be packing already...

Brazil and Holland failed to impress too, but they put some points in their pockets, and as for Italy, well, when's the last time they actually did impress anyone, except when realising they'd just won the Cup? Cheesy

Don't think they really have much chance, though, but I said the same last time... Wink

Right now, I'm worried that someone as clueless as Diego Maradona might actually lead his team to win...

It would be the final proof, if we still needed it, and perhaps some consolation, that Football is really all about blind luck and little else... Grin

Well England are out... who is actually surprised??  We are england, the thing we are best at is being crap at stuff.  Typical england performance of old... although that was a goal...

Just think how different things could have been if Green hadn't let the ball in against the US. It would have been us playing Ghana yesterday ... We'd proberbly lose that too though Sad

Well, let me put it this way: teams like Italy and France have a lot more to recriminate, because they COULD have put together much better teams, if they didn't have brainless coaches, while this is all England could do, they were beaten fair and square by a better team, should be accepted at face value.

Of course, expectations were much higher than this for England, and not only for English supporters, but perhaps those expectations were pumped up by the very same rags which elected Capello as a demi-god a couple of months ago, and are extremely busy right now in finding the most 'orrible ways of slagging him tomorrow morning...

It's the same with Italy and its coach right now, even though it should have been obvious to anyone who've ever seen at least one football match in their lives that they were the most pathetic Italian team in history, but then they have historical reasons to believe in blind luck, if it happened once... Wink

And it's back to square one, as Rogue says, IF Green hadn't done that blunder, IF England had played Ghana instead of Germany... we'll never know, of course, but it's no use slagging Capello now, although I hate the man's guts and must admit I will actually enjoy tomorrow's rags titles, they'll do a world of good to his immense ego at least, but I really believe they will be unfair, England missed some of their best men, Ferdinand out of the picture altogether and Rooney out of shape, and while most of top teams have equally or nearly as good alternatives, England's reserves are miles behind the first team's choices, and that's that, I think.

You cant blame one person... if the defenders had done well we would have won the match, so the Green blunder is irrelevant...  If Ronney had scored 1 million goals we'd have won the match... everyone LOVED Capello when we were winning 5-0 in the qualifying games and the friendlies... why has this changed???  Football causes the biggest hypocracy...

We need to ask a serious question - individually, we have the greatest players in the world.  The  11 most talented footballers... so why, when working together, do these men suddenly give up??  Once we can answer that, we will win the world cup.

No team should rely on just one person.  If that is the case, then you have a rubbish team in the first place.  All 11 should make a difference or we dont deserve the chance...

Green was a bad goalie??  He let in 1 in the tournament,  Calamity James let in 5...  oh right, we all forgot in the last tournament James made so many blunders he was nicknamed Calamity James...

Green has done far less blunders than James... but we all seem to have selective memory...

Who won the bloody war anyway?? lol

I wasn't meaning to blame Green for Englands bad performance. IMO they were all bad, i was just dreaming out loud.
I just wish Beckham was fit to play, i know he wouldn't have made much of a difference but i do like him, He's the only one of the lot who really does seem proud to wear the England shirt.

We missed Beckham when it came to the corners.  Although they never always ended ina  goal, Beckham always had them on target and that makes a difference.  But he too has had his moments...

Ah well, it wouldnt be england without the drama would it??
