Seems to be a bit of a John Sullivan's day, today Smiley

Have we really all missed this? The OFAH prequel?

Rumours seem to have turned into facts, they're probably still shooting right now...

Anyone have more recent news? Can't seem to find any myself.

Anyway, with all the reservations that are only natural in these cases, it sounds rather promising, I daresay it'll be better than "The Green Green Grass", although some might say that's just too easy, poor old Boycie... Wink

Well, looks like we managed to miss it again, when the pilot episode aired, late last january... Smiley

The final title is just "Rock and Chips" and it appears to be getting mixed reactions from viewers, oscillating between "marvellous" and "absolute crap" Wink

I don't quite know what to say myself... let me put it this way, if you're among those preferring the early, mostly comedic OFAH, this will be disappointing, there isn't much fun to be had here, just a few giggles. If, on the other hand, you appreciate the rather heavy-handed melò of the later "specials", you're in for a treat with Rock and Chips...

Unfortunately, I belong to the former school of thought, think I'll stick with the current rerun of the "Green Green Grass" on BBC Entertainment, simple farce it might be, but at least there's a few laughs in it... Smiley

I agree completely with your mini review of Rock and Chips but i have to disagree with what you said about The Green, Green Grass, I don't think i've found a single giggle in that! Cheesy

Well, I never said "G3" was a masterpiece, though, did I? Wink

Still, this is one of those cases where what I call the "soap syndrome" takes place, for me, you get so used, and appreciative, of some characters, you just want to keep watching their antics, almost no matter how silly they might be... and I've always loved Boycie and Marlene, they were the most obvious choice for an OFAH spinoff, but I'm ready to agree it could have been done fairly better... Smiley

In the end, when there's nothing better to do, I'd rather watch G3 than some old episode of Top Gear, which is on every day at all times, think I've heard Jeremy Clarkson proudly announcing that 2003 will be a great year for motoring some 5 or 6 times this year alone... Wink

But I have to say this is not a bad time for reruns on BBC Entertainment, apart from G3 I'm following the rather more interesting Red Dwarf (from the beginning), Blackadder (season 3, finally!) and a few highly watchable sketch shows, from Omid Djalili to the Fast Show to Live at the Apollo (not always great...)
