VETERAN comedian Rowan Atkinson wants to do a fifth series of his classic sitcom Blackadder.

The actor, who is currently launching his new spy spoof movie Johnny English Reborn, said yesterday: “It could be reprised in some form or other. I think there is a possibility of a fifth series.”

Atkinson, 56, who also starred in Mr Bean and Not The Nine O’Clock News, told ITV’s Daybreak show that a new Blackadder would take a different approach.

There has been want for another Blackadder for ages...  I'd personally like to see Atkinson in something totally new, which is rare.  I love Blackadder, mainly because it's so simple that it's genius.  "You twist and turn like a twisty turny thing...."  absolutely genius!!!

Quality comedy,up there with the best.
The first series wobbled a bit, although though it had some top stars involved -Peter Cook,Brian Blessed and i thought Elspet Gray (lady Collingford in Catweazle) was very good as Edmund's mother.
After series 1 they never looked back...............classic comedy.
more please............ Grin Grin

The final Blackadder,  "Back and Forth"  has what I consider to be the greatest TV theme song lyrics ever written:

"Blackadder, Blackadder
He's really quite penache
Blackadder, Blackadder
He's got a nice moustache!"

Sounds more like wishful thinking than an actual project to me...

Still, wary as I always am of "returns", if all the original talents, including Richard Curtis and Ben Elton, would get back to it, I think there's still room for new Blackadder stories to be told.

And I guess an obvious choice for period settings would be the fabulous sixties, swingin' London and all that.
