I've just finished watching a DVD of The Two Of Us and i found it really strange just how dated the whole thing felt, even though it's an 80's sitcom, it felt much older then say, Are You Being Served or Some Mothers Do Have Em. I don't know why but even the clothing felt older than the 70's sitcoms and one thing i did notice was that comedy seemed to go backwards a bit, they were very coy about sex for example - more so than the 70's comedies.

I guess some shows are just of their time. I find series 3 of "Some Mothers..." looks dated (also, Crawford's accent and voice are different there, I think the 4 years away didn't help). Yet the previous ones didn't. Also, a lot of comedies I guess have jokes of the time, politics etc. The best example is "Drop The Dead Donkey"... I used to love watching it on tv, but recently bought a dvd of series 1 and they had to start every episode with an explanation of the jokes as they were about recent happenings. This ruined it and they just weren't funny anymore.
