Karl

It's jsut a shame that the BBC made more un-neccessary cuts than the coilition government!

Some fans I know don't like the last Steptoe xmas one as they say it's too much like "The Holiday" (which is actually what Ray and Alan titled it, but to avoid confusion as the title never appeared onscreen they changed it for the radio version then changed again for the DVD) butit's presented differently - christmas specials are meant to be a bit of fun, a good laugh while you sit there regretting opening that large tin of chocolates.

I used to lvoe the 2point4 Children christmas specials for that very reason - they were sometimes nonsense, but they were funny.  "Some Mothers..." did a couple of good ones too!

Phil,
The Steptoe & son xmas specials are both very good i think, both have the same theme(Harold trying to get away for the festive season)
The '73 one maybe has the edge but '74 is good fun too, some classic lines: "This is what you get when a muffin man has a bit of crumpet",always makes me giggle Grin
As for the BBC cuts "Dozy great pillocks!!" they always have to wreck the classics!
