Have you noticed that some sitcoms seem to have been forgotten by the schedulers on Gold and the like? When was the last time they showed proggys like Nether The Tawin, Shelly or It Ain't Half Hot, Mum. Oh Mr Beeching is another (although i'm glad that Hi De Hi doesnt get on rotation like OFAH's does!).

Wasn't it Dr. Beeching? The other similar is You Rang M'Lord, which was in unusual 50 minute episodes!
Keeping Mum is a short lived forgotten one I like.

Terry and June gets shown on ITV3 as a schedule filler, a bit sad really considering how big it was then it was originally show even though it looks badly dated now. The Alf Garnetts never get shown anymore either.

Yeah, i agree. strange that the most popular of the three was IMO the weakest.

STEPTOE FORGOTTEN? ? Grrrrrrrrrrrrrrr it's not forgotten, they just consider it politically incorrect. All the poofters at the BBC don't like it constantly referring to them!! lol

Maybe is should watch it again with a PC head on.

I'm gonna look at this subject from a different angle here...........
In a twisted way GOLD could be partly responsible for classic sitcoms becoming 'forgotten'. This 'vintage' tv channel shows the same programmes all of the time, over and over again. Only fools....is being flogged to death as is Porridge,Open all hours, the Vicar of Dibley,Green, green grass,Last of the summer wine etc. etc. There are literally hundreds (as we all know) of classic comedies out there that NEVER see the light of day apart from the occasional dvd release these shows have no chance of being remembered. At least BBC 2 do continue to show 'Dads army' on a regular basis i suppose. The amount of reality shows that we are being fed is a disgrace,i'd rather see some classic comedy repeats anyday!

In many ways, it should be a good thing that they don't show them - they shouldn't have to because modern comedies they are making are even better and get shown instead - but I personally think comedy, especially from the BBC, is at an all tyime low, and to me, "Mrs. Brown's Boys 2 was scraping the bottom of the barrel, though I know some people love it. But despite personal opinion, many would agree modern comedy just isn't the same, so why not show these classics in their place? As for political correctness, every television ever sold EVER has a censorship button that blocks out everything you don't like - it's called the OFF button. Dont peanlise us who have a sense of humour because a few uptight people don't.
