Zero hour is here…the PBS premiere of Behind the Britcom: From Script to Screen. I know we’ve been talking about this for awhile, tempting you with some of the early interview footage from the production shoots over the past couple of years. As KERA airs the 2-hour program tonight at 9:00pm, many PBS stations around the U.S. will also premiere the program this weekend during the March fundraising campaigns. Wherever you are, check local listings to find the broadcast time on your local PBS station. LINK

Are we going to get that over here? Sounds interesting and I'd love to see an American perspective on our shows.
One thing that has always puzzled me is why we simply show your sitcoms over here, yet you remake ours? Maybe we're just too lazy to remake them over here lol

Oi! I'm over here too! Some US shows do get remade here. The Upper Hand is a British remake of the US sitcom Who's the Boss? for example.

We saw Behind the Britcom for the first time last week on public television here in the Los Angeles area.

Sorry I meant America in general, I know you're over here, sorry... it didn't come out right, I was three parts olivered when I replied! Yes there have been a few, but in comparison to US remakes of British shows, practically none. They remake everything.

Three. And one of them wrote out the character of Basil - yes, they thought Basil was an irrelevant character, according to John Cleese. What? However, the american version fo Steptoe, "Sanford and Son" was actually their third attepmt, they never broadcast the pilots of the other two, one of which starred Richard Pryors. i guess it takes a lot of work to get it right.
