Unknown 70s (or early 80s) British sitcom

Hello,
I try to find out the title of a 70s (or early 80s) British sitecom I saw as a kid. Serie was shown on former Yugoslav TV. As I was small kid, I don't remember English title. All I remember is: the one of main characters was a guy with longer blond curly hair and each episode he was drinking a pint beer from mug, in once to the last drop. If he didn't drink any beer in one episode, he drunk two pints in the next one.
Anyone who can help me with serie title?

Hi Zizi,
I may have the answer-could it have been that awful "Up the elephant and round the castle" starring Jim Davidson?
from what i remember he drank regular in that one,i watched it first time it was broadcast and its by no means a classic.
I hope this helps................if i'm wrong someone on here will know.

Could this actually be my beloved "Chance in a Million"?

Downing pints in one go was indeed a recurring gag, I wondered how Simon Callow could manage that, especially if a scene had to be repeated a few times... guess it wasn't actual beer but cold tea, but still, I could never do that even with water...

BTW, Yugoslavian TV was also my very first introduction to British Comedy, back in the early 80s... I didn't get where I am today by watching the dreadful Italian TV... Wink
